One cannot read the headline news today without drawing a single, inevitable conclusion: Washington has gone stark-raving mad.
Each day we see evidence that our political system is so diabolically twisted and broken that it can only be called a chamber of horrors, a divided nation; and we all know what Lincoln said about a house divided.
He delivered his “house divided” speech to the Illinois State Convention in 1858 “in order,” he said, “to rouse them to the peril of the times.”
Has anyone noticed that the times in which we live are perilous?
Any objective observer can see that the pernicious workings of the Deep State/Media Complex are simply destroying the integrity of our culture and government, which is based on the rule of law.
But a dual system of law is now evident: one set of laws that binds our citizens and another set of laws that applies to the rich and powerful elites at the top of the political food chain.
We cannot even trust our nation’s top law enforcement organization, the FBI, to tell the truth – which means that we are in deep trouble.
Furthermore, we cannot hope to conduct the nation’s business and deal with our deep-seated domestic problems when there is an ongoing campaign to undo the election of our President and destroy him and everything he does for the American people.
The state of cultural and political decay in our nation is so far advanced that only the divine power of God can restore us.
Yet in our nation’s worst crisis, Lincoln ended his long anti-slavery speech with the hopeful exhortation that we should persevere in praying and working through the difficult issues because we have Divine Providence on our side.
“The result is not doubtful,” said Lincoln. “We shall not fail — if we stand firm, we shall not fail.”
Let us take up the Lincolnian exhortation and stand firm in prayer and principled action until we see the restoration of American values and integrity.
For people of Faith, the lesson should be clearer than ever: to counter this menacing darkness that threatens the very foundation of our country we must prayerfully support President Trump and his reform agenda for America. Our prayers for him and his administration are prayers for our beloved country.
The One Our Father campaign is asking millions of Americans to pray one single Our Father a day for the restoration of our nation and the protection of our President as he attempts to bring back some semblance of Christian values to the public forum of our great nation. Please pray every day for this intention and ask family members and friends to do the same.
Washington may have gone stark raving mad, but God still holds American in His loving hands.
